Intelectual outputs

Intellectual outputs of the project consist of:

  • IO1 – JSXGraph features

JSXGraph (www.jsxgraph.org) is a free and open-source Javascript library for creating interactive geometry, plotting, and visualisation on the world wide web. In this IO, we will explore new ways to use JSXGraph visualizations, namely evaluating students’ input, creating a simple graphical user interface, and adding translation notation. All three features will greatly improve the educational value of JSXgraph.

  • IO2 – OER Translations using machine learning technology

In Open Education Resource (OER) IO we will translate STEM i-textbooks with machine learning technology.

  • IO3 – System for incremental improvements of textbooks

In this IO, we will define how the solve the problem of incorporating improvements to the i-textbooks.

  • IO4 – i-Textbooks integration into Learning Management System

We will prepare an interface (LTI) for i-textbooks to enable educators across EU to import them into the Learning management system of their choice.

  • IO5 – Video Explanations Taxonomy

In the first phase, we will create the classification of video explanations. Empirical results will show if the theoretical conceptualisation should be adapted to the specific school environment, including the multicultural dimension. Then we will design a taxonomy for video explanations (VET). The taxonomy will provide tools for understanding how video explanations can best be integrated into the teaching, training and learning of STEM.

  • IO6 – Instructional Principles

Teachers’ technology acceptance can not be determined only by what schools offer teachers as an aid in the use of technology. Therefore, in this IO we will prepare very explicit instructions for teachers on how to use the developed EXPERT OER. We will use the principles of instructional theories, which, unlike learning theories, prescribe what a teacher should / should not do to achieve the expected standards of knowledge.

  • IO7 – Personalized learning with i-textbooks in LMS

The result of this IO will be a didactical model on using interactive textbooks of STEM subjects imported in the Learning management systems (LMS) available in primary and secondary schools.

  • IO8 – MOOC – Remote teaching with EXPERT results

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are established learning formats and are successfully used by renowned universities (like Stanford or TU Munich). The target audience of the MOOC will be school teachers and other interested educators. The prerequisites needed to attend this course will be a certain STEM affinity, and some experience with LMS editing. In this IO, we will result from all previous IOs and integrate them into one accessible and informative format.
